Cytotoxic Triterpenoids on Human Cancer Cell Lines from Ixeris sonchifolia

Abstract

|
From the chloroform soluble fraction of whole plant of Ixeris sonchifolia Hance (Compositae), the isolation of ursane and lupane triterpenoids (1-3) which have cytotoxic effect against human cancer cell lines was carried out. The IC_(50) values of compounds 1 and 3 were 85.2 and 121.1 ㎍/mL against human stomach cancer cell line, SNU-1 and were 113.7 and 72.1 ㎍/mL against human colon cancer cell line, SNU-C4 respectively. The IC_(50) value of compound 2 which was mild in human stomach cancer cell line was 158.6 ㎍/mL.
